We had a destination, and it's Canibad.
But the thing is, we don't know how to get there. But boy, the journey was just as fun . So I tell you, this is a long story-telling for me. Haha.
After assembling at Mykee's place, our group headed at the wharf at around 4:30 pm. When we got to the wharf, we were floored on how long the line of cars for the barge was since it was a weekend. But that didn't disheartened us even if Mykee's family driver was starting to express his doubt. The wait took us an hour but we hadn't noticed it since we were enjoying ourselves at the car playing fun card games.
We arrived at Samal Island at around 7pm and from there we were painstakingly asking for directions on how to get to Canibad. In our "research", we've seen that Canibad is on the other side of Samal and supplementing details said that it would only take a 30 minute-drive from the island wharf. So, basically we were just treading the unknown road and stopping once in a while to confirm directions. The driver was starting to get pissed at us because we look like nasty teenagers who are all game for an adventure but are all clueless on where we are heading. I was personally starting to get nervous too because it's already past seven. The road is dark and it seems endless too not to mention rough. We were like on an off-road.
And finally, we were welcomed with a teared signage that says "Welcome to Canibad Beach" after a very bumpy ride at around 8pm. We thought the agony was over but the rain started pouring very hard and we had to trek down on a very steep stairs carrying our heavy bags and things. We were so tired when we deposited ourselves in the rented cottage plus we had to prepare our dinner. But we tried to take things lightly and still enjoyed the night with grilled pork and Vodka. And the rest of the night was history...
On to the morning, we geared ourselves to enjoy the place. A trip to Canibad wouldn't be complete without doing the cliff dive. I was really excited and game to do the cliff-diving! And so, cliff-diving it is! The experience was so awesome! We had a video of it. Boy, the adrenaline rush was just indescribable. The feeling of falling and plunging straight to the clear blue waters was literally breathtaking! It's a feeling I'll always relish.
I was so thrilled, I had to do it twice! No one came with me the second time around though because my friends were already tired to trek up the steep cliff again. So there's no video this time. But the second time made me nervous. But you know, cliff diving is one of those moments that you just have to let go of fears and inhibitions. It's a valid time to not think of anything. Just jump! And so, jump I did, and the waters welcomed me again...what a feeling!
The whole trip really made me one happy soul. I was happy to bond with friends, to explore the unknown, to conquer my fear of heights, to be adventurous, to be free-spirited, to take time to marvel at nature's awesome-ness and to be just free, free of worries and other worldly concerns..
And with this trip, I advice, set your eye on a destination and the best plan is to not have a plan at all! Haha. :)
